Ever wonder what the profession of music therapy looks like? Are you interested in music therapy as a potential future career? If you are considering a career in music therapy, we recommend the following link made available by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA): A Career in Music Therapy
Our team is passionate about sharing why we love what we do and why music therapy has been a wonderful career choice. Thus, we offer opportunities for individuals of any age to job shadow or observe our work. If an in-person job shadow or observation is not desired, we also offer opportunities to talk with a board-certified music therapist in-person or over the phone.
Please note that all job shadowing, observations, and interviews are available as staff schedules and client schedules allow. For all experiences involving direct client contact, such as job shadows and observations, permission must be granted by the observed client(s) prior to the job shadow/observation being scheduled. The process of gaining permission may take one or two weeks, so please allow a minimum of three weeks to schedule an observation or job shadow. If a session is canceled, the observation may be canceled or rescheduled. This is out of the control of our staff.
We require all individuals observing a session at LIH to sign required documentation protecting the confidentiality of our clients and the work performed at LIH. All job shadowers and observers are required to wear business-casual attire (no jeans).
Individuals interested in a job shadow or observation experience or interview with a therapist are required to complete the contact form below.
