“Over the past three years, Father’s Day has morphed from a holiday of celebration (and anticipation) to a day of bittersweet memories of an amazing role model and hero who I called Dad. The song “Never Alone” by Lady Antebellum and Jim Brickman reminds me of my dad because in his last five years of life, he had faced some incredibly difficult challenges. I remember making my dad playlists and my mom recently told me that my dad would hear this song on the recording and would just start crying. I hope he always knew that we were with him through thick and thin. Even though he isn’t here today to hug or call on the phone, I know that my love still reaches him and his love still reaches me. Ironically, I came across another song called “Never Alone” by Jesse Bonanno, and I feel like it’s his message back to me. I find a lot of comfort in this song, especially on the days that seem to be difficult to get through. I dedicate the Lady A version of “Never Alone” to my dad and the Jesse Bonanno version to anyone who is feeling sadness thinking of Father’s Day. Until we meet again, Dad, I love you with all my heart!” ~Amy Schaack, MT-BC
