Carols by Color

An adaptive keyboarding class designed for individuals with developmental disabilities (ages 12+)

This is a short-series to sample our STOMP music therapy group which meets throughout the calendar year.  STOMP is an adaptive music opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities to utilize music to expand socialization skills, cognitive skills, communication skills, motor skills, and music appreciation.  The Carols By Color  class is designed for individuals ages 12 and older who may require adaptive music instruction to be successful in a music learning environment.  Our goal of the short-series is to play five carols using adaptive music notation (color-coded keys).  We aim to teach the group to play simple melodies as well as two-note chords using colored notation.  While we will be learning to play using colors, we will also be talking about the names of the notes on a C scale.  Before our time is done, we will record one song together as an ensemble.  All participants will receive a recording of the song to share with family and friends.  We hope you can join us!

This class is instructed by Jennifer Wetzler, MT-BC, WMTR.  Jennifer is a Neurologic Music Therapist from Life In Harmony Music Therapy, LLC who is licensed as a music therapist through the State of WI.
